WEDDING Spray: Bridal Tanning Tips for Beautifully Bronzed Brides

The countdown to your big day may be on and like every other girl on the planet, you want the day to be as perfect as possible. This means that the nitty gritty details have to be in order, including your fake tan. It just might be the first thing people see when you walk down that isle.

The best option is to leave your bronzing in the hands of a professional, this way you are guaranteed an even, no streak, perfect glowing tan. In addition to your professional spray tan you are adviced to purchase either the Sienna X or Cocoa Brown prepare and prolong products, which are either detailed below or within my Tanning Store. These products are optional but much advised, a package can be discussed.

So to assure you are in good hands and give you one less thing to worry about as you plan your big day I have compiled some frequent concerns around brides and bronzing!

These tips will guarantee your tan looks as good as possible.

A MONTH in advance of your big day…

I would highly recommend that you have a trial application , and it would be a very good idea to tie this in with your Hen Night! This will give you the opprtunity to determine what shade of tan suits you best.

1 HOUR TAN Professional Spray Tan Solution on for at least 1 hour for a light glow, 2 hours for medium glow and 3 hours for a deeper glow. You can leave it on longer if you like your tan really dark or I would recommend applying 1 HOUR TAN for two consecutive days. You can achieve this with the I Hour self application mouse which you can buy in the Tanning Store on this site or ask that I bring these along with me.

The Sienna X Proffessional spray tanning solutions come in a range of guide colours with varying percentages of strength, starting with the new advanced accelerated 1 hour tan, 8%, 10% & 12% based on results being light, medium to darker.

If you are booking a spray tan for your big day, consider your wedding party too. To make your tan look more natural, it’s a good idea to have your lovely bridesmaids standing beside you looking just as bronzed. Discount rates for groups are available just check the Prist List page.
Otherwise you can buy a bottle of 1 HOUR TAN for every lady in the wedding party! Just a thought!! :)

BEFORE the fake tan application…

Exfoliate using either Sienna X Polishing Body Scrub or Cocoa Brown TOUGH STUFF Body Scrub.

It is always advisable to moisturise in the lead up to your tan application, NOT ON THE ACTUAL DAY and after spray tan application from day 2 BUT ONLY using OIL-FREE moisturiser.

On the day of your spray tan application, make sure you do not apply any lotion beforehand (or makeup or deodorant, which can also contain oils that keep the tan from soaking in). Your skin should be clean, dry and free of any products.

Ensure your skin is tan free for the week before your tan application so there is no chance of tan build up.

1. Apply a coat of nail polish to your nails on hands and feet. This prevents tan from staining the nail plate.

2. Obviously your professional spray tan will have been applied at least two days before your big day to allow it to settle. On the day of your wedding if you are applying any type of self-tanning product to help maintain your bronzed glow, you should apply the OIL-FREE moisturiser to areas such as feet, ankles, knees, elbows and palms of your hands. The skin is usually drier in these areas so this will ensure the colour of tan is even all over as the moisturiser will act a a barrier.

3. Even put a small amount of the oil-free moisturiser through eyebrows. This prevents the tan from discolouring your eyebrows. If you have dark circles around your eyes, a little bit of the moisturiser will stop the tan from further darkening the area.

4. Wear loose, dark clothing after your tan application and avoid water.

5. The beauty of the Cocoa Brown professional solution is you only have to wait 1 hour before showering for a light glow, for a medium colour wait 2 hours and for a darker shade wait 3 hours.

AFTER your tan application…

After applying your tan or having a spray, make sure you wear loose clothing, leaving your bra straps down (or avoiding wearing one altogether) and don’t wear knee high boots, jeans or leggings as they can tend to leave a seam mark. It’s also best to wear flip flops.
When you shower for the first time after tan application you can use a very mild shower gel but I would recommend Sienna X Balance Body Wash. A mild formulation will care for and help prolong your sunless tan. Also, don’t exfoliate your skin until the 4th day of application. The reason for this is to prolong the tan to start with but ultimately to remove from your skin leaving an even fade.
Only use an oil-free moisturiser like Cocoa Brown CHOCOLATE WHIP Oil-Free Body Moisturiser. Otherwise, moisturisers with oil can break down the tan causing it to fade.
To keep your tan in tip-top shape for your honeymoon, we recommend that you use Cocoa Brown CHOCOLATE WHIP Oil-Free Body Moisturiser on day 2 and 3. Also recommended is the graduale tan in the range. If you like you can use a body oil on day 4 and 5 and thereafter which will help to soften the skin so that the tan exfoliates off evenly.

How many days in advance should I apply my tan?

It is ideal that you try a trial and error tan application a month in advance of your big day. As part of your package I will come and visit you and your guests if your are doing this for your hen night. This is not free of charge but will be at a reduced rate to standard prices as part of your package. See Price list This way you can see how dark/light you prefer to have your tan and then get a professional spray tan two days in advance of your wedding.

When should I wax/shave?

Always wax or shave at least 24hrs before your tan application, 48hrs preferably. This allows your pores to close and also, waxing or shaving afterwards could cause the tan to come off in these areas.

What should I do on the morning of my wedding?

On the day of your wedding, make sure you moisturise the body using the OIL-FREE MOISTERISER you have selected from the tanning store as this will make your skin look hydrated and healthy. You can rub talcum powder under your arm pits and around the dress so the tan does not transfer if you sweat.

What do I do if my tan isn’t dark enough?

If your tan is not dark enough on the morning of your wedding, apply a coat of the following products over the areas you want to top up your tan:

Cocoa Brown NIGHT & DAY TAN or Sienna X Instant Bronzing Gel

These are instant/wash-off tan's which will give you an immediate deep glow and wash-off in the shower the next morning.

DO NOT MOISTERISE BEFORE!!

Remember, on the day you are going to apply the NIGHT & DAY TAN tan make sure your skin is free from any lotions, potions, perfumes, deodorants or creams.

We always recommended applying NIGHT & DAY TAN using the Cocoa Brown PINK TANNING MITT to avoid staining your hands.

If you like your tan to be light, apply minimal amount of NIGHT & DAY TAN. For a darker glow, apply the tan liberally or try an extra layer once the tan dries in.

To ensure your tan looks as natural as possible, leave your hands, feet and face until last and apply product sparingly to these areas. Your PINK TANNING MITT should have just enough tan left on it after doing the rest of the body to ensure these areas are lightly bronzed.

AFTER you apply Cocoa Brown by Marissa Carter NIGHT & DAY TAN…

Wait 1 minute and when your tan is dry, get dressed and enjoy your night out!

The next day after your night out when you have a shower, you will be left with a light golden glow that will last you up to 5 days.

When you are ready to remove it or prepare your skin for the next tanning application, use Cocoa Brown TOUGH STUFF Body Scrub.
